The question on the search bar
People search for cloud vs desktop jewellery billing software. The practical difference is where the program lives. A desktop package is installed on a computer in the shop. A browser product opens with a login, on a phone, tablet, or any computer that has a connection.
SwarnaVyapar is the second kind. There is nothing to install on the shop PC. "Cloud" on this page only means the shop record is not stored only on one computer. It does not mean the stock list is public. A public catalogue is off until the shop turns it on.
What a desktop install is good at
A program on one computer can feel quick on a keyboard, and some of them keep billing when the internet is down. Tally is the usual example for Indian accounts. It is built for the books, not for a jewellery counter that also runs schemes, khata, and girvi. The Tally comparison says where each one stops.
The cost shows up when that computer is off, slow, or with one person. A second salesperson then waits, shares a password, or needs another install. A backup is whatever someone remembered to copy off that machine.
What a browser login changes
- The owner and the counter open the same shop. A phone and a desktop browser are two screens, not two copies of the data.
- A new staff login is an account, not a new installation. Starter includes 2 staff logins.
- The bill PDF can be shared on WhatsApp from the invoice screen.
- Billing needs a network connection. SwarnaVyapar has no offline billing queue. If the connection drops, reconnect and continue. Saved bills are not trapped on that one PC.
What does not change
GST still comes from the shop's own tax settings. Making charges are still per gram, a fixed amount, or a percent. A HUID is a code you capture on the tag. The software does not fetch it from BIS. A CA still files the return and still closes the year. SwarnaVyapar does not prepare a balance sheet.
Excel remains useful as a list you already have. It is a weak system of record once weight, GST, and udhaar have to agree. That comparison is on SwarnaVyapar vs Excel.
How to choose
Stay on a desktop package if the shop must bill with no internet and someone will maintain that computer. Use a browser product if more than one person bills, or the owner wants the same khata from outside the shop. Many shops do both: SwarnaVyapar at the counter, Tally with the CA.
A one-counter starting point, including the free plan's limits, is the small-shop guide. Prices are on pricing. The day-to-day bill is GST billing.
